At Churchfields Primary School, our Design and Technology curriculum is designed to equip students with a diverse range of transferable skills, fostering progression from early years to Year 6. Our curriculum is structured around units that encompass planning, designing, and evaluating, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the design process.

Throughout their journey in Design and Technology, students will engage with various thematic units, including mechanisms, structures, food, textiles, and electrical systems. These units serve as platforms for students to explore and apply crucial knowledge that underpins disciplinary skills and concepts.

From the early years, students will embark on a journey of discovery, developing foundational skills in problem-solving, creativity, and critical thinking. As they progress through the curriculum, they will delve deeper into the intricacies of design, honing their abilities to plan, innovate, and refine their creations.

Our curriculum places a strong emphasis on hands-on learning experiences, ensuring that lessons are not only informative but also enjoyable. By fostering a supportive and engaging environment, we aim to empower students to develop crucial life skills, such as collaboration, resilience, and adaptability.

Through Design and Technology at Churchfields Primary School, students will not only gain proficiency in technical skills but also cultivate a passion for innovation and creativity that will serve them well beyond the classroom. We are committed to providing a dynamic and enriching learning experience that prepares students for success in an ever-evolving world.
