Welcome to Year 4
Year 4 represents a crucial stage in each child's development. Our primary focus remains on mastering times tables, as this lays a solid groundwork for their mathematical journey. Our comprehensive and well-rounded curriculum caters to individual interests and promotes deeper understanding. We are equally dedicated to nurturing the well-being of each student, cultivating a sense of pride and self-esteem that fuels their enthusiasm for learning.
Important Reminders
Physical Education (PE)
Please ensure that children come to school dressed in their PE kit on Tuesdays. No uniform is required on this day. Also, make sure to remove all jewellery before they arrive at school.
Reading Books
In Year 4, we expect children to engage in daily 10-minute reading sessions, recorded at least three times a week in their reading diaries. They can choose to read their school-assigned book or a book they have chosen for their own enjoyment. Children will have opportunities to read with an adult or in guided groups during the week.
Home Learning
Home learning assignments are distributed every Monday and should be completed and returned by Friday. This typically includes math activities and spelling practice in preparation for a brief Friday morning test. Additionally, home learning provides a chance for students to create work related to our studies in other subjects.
Swimming
Children need their swimming kits on Fridays. We ask that they wear PE kits as this aids them in changing quickly. They need a full swimming costume – no two pieces – or tight trunks, not board shorts. Any earrings are worn at their own risk, as if they are lost in the water, there is no reliable way of getting them back.
