History

 Intent

History education at Churchfields Primary School will help pupils gain a coherent knowledge and understanding of Britain’s past and that of the wider world. It will inspire pupils’ curiosity to know more about the past. Teaching will equip pupils to ask perceptive questions, think critically, weigh evidence, sift arguments, and develop perspective and judgement. History helps pupils to understand the complexity of people’s lives, the process of change, the diversity of societies and relationships between different groups, as well as their own identity and the challenges of their time.

All history lessons at Churchfields Primary school follow our crucial knowledge documentation. This knowledge has been chosen to help the children to retain and recall all essential learning that underpins each topic from EYFS all the way up to KS2. With a strong partnership with geography, history and geography are taught with one recap term and one topic term to enable the children to revise, embed and build up the crucial knowledge delivered in previous years.
