Welcome to Year 2
Children moving into year 2 are always confident and excited about making the move from year 1. Year 1 and Year 2 work closely together and have very similar routines. This aids transition and means the children already know staff and settle quickly. Year 1and Year 2 also have opportunity to play alongside each other during playtimes and lunchtimes.
Year 2 children build upon their learning from the previous year and deepen their understanding of crucial knowledge through a wide, varied and exciting curriculum.
Reminders
PE – please ensure children come to school in their PE kit on Tuesday. They DO NOT need their uniform. Please ensure all jewellery is removed before coming to school.
Reading Books – In year 2, we expect the children to read most days for 10 minutes, and this should be recorded in their reading diaries at least 3 times every week. This can be their school reading book, another school book (such as a school library book) or their own choice of reading material. Children will read in class with an adult or in a guided group during the week.
Home Learning - Home learning is always given out on Monday and should be returned (complete) by Thursday. There will always be a mathematics activity and spellings to be completed and practiced ready for a short test on Friday mornings. Home learning also gives children opportunity to produce some work linked to our learning in other subjects.
